July is a wonderful month, but there’s just one thing that could make it better — celebrating Christmas! And, because 2020 has been impossibly hard for a lot of people, I thought what better time to add a little joy to life than to celebrate Christmas in July for the first time ever on Bigger Bolder Baking.
How are we celebrating? Not only are we sharing classic holiday recipes on social media, but we invited two of our favorite bakers to join us for a special live stream on Instagram and Facebook — and you probably already know them well! We connected with Candace Nelson (founder of Sprinkles Cupcakes, judge on Netflix’s Sugar Rush, and creator of the #LiveToEat Podcast) and Brian Hart Hoffman (of Bake from Scratch magazine, #TheBakeFeed on Instagram, and cookbook author) to share special treats they love based on a flavor poll from Bold Bakers like you! We asked which classic holiday flavor you would like during the summer, and ginger/gingerbread was the clear winner.

What Is Christmas In July?
This is easy to answer! Christmas in July is a holiday celebration at the half-way point to Christmas, on July 25th. Decorate, make treats. We could all use some holiday cheer right now, and this is the best way to do it.
I adore a spicy cookie — not spicy in the sense of it being savory, but rather exactly how Candace makes her Spicy Gingersnap Cookies recipe: Ginger, Cinnamon, Black Pepper (yeah, baby!), and yes, a dash of Cayenne!
This is a Christmas in July staple for Brian, who has made this Gingerbread Cookie Cheesecake Bars recipe for Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family for this very occasion in the past. Just look at them. I hope he makes some and ships them to me!
